Bianca Andrew currently lives in London. In the summer of 2017, she appeared on stage at the New Zealand Opera as the Madrigal Singer in a concert performance of Puccini’s Manon Lescaut. From 2008 to 2011, the mezzo-soprano completed her initial studies at the New Zealand School of Music. She then joined the New Zealand Opera as an Emerging Artist from 2012 to 2013. She is currently receiving additional musical training at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. She will graduate from Guildhall with an Artist Diploma in Opera Studies in 2017. In London, Bianca has gained stage experience with roles such as Laura (Iolanta), Neighbor (Mavra), Philomène (Alexandre Bis) and Flycap (The Tale of Januarie), as well as the title role in Handel’s Radamisto. The mezzo-soprano also appeared as Meg Page (Falstaff) with the Cambridge Philharmonic and Romeo (I Capuleti e i Montecchi) with the Days Bay Opera in New Zealand. Bianca was awarded the Kiri Te Kanawa scholarship at the Lexus Song Quest 2014, and was the winner of the Song Prize at the 2016 Kathleen Ferrier Awards.
