Florian Köfler joined the Junges Ensemble at Vienna’s Theater an der Wien in the 2016/17 season. In their 2017/18 season, he will take to the stage as King Arkel (Pelléas et Mélisande) and Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte), as well as the title role in Don Pasquale. His most recent performance was in summer 2017 in the Oper Burg Gars production of The Magic Flute. The Austrian bass singer, who initially studied the tuba, completed his degree in vocal studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in 2010. During his time there, he debuted at the Schlosstheater Schönbrunn, playing the title role in The Marriage of Figaro. He also played Masetto and Leporello in Don Giovanni, as well as Pistola in Falstaff in 2016. In 2015, he became an ensemble member at the Theater Regensburg and performed in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly and Handel’s Saul. In 2016, the bass singer took on the role of the servant in Capriccio at the Theater an der Wien. He also played Grenvil and Douphol in La Traviata and Filotete in Oreste.
