Sophie-Magdalena Reuter from Germany sings "Quando me'n vo'" from La Bohème by Puccini in the semifinal concert of NEUE STIMMEN 2017.
Sophie-Magdalena is studying at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg and will complete her Master’s degree in music in 2018. The soprano joined the youth choir at the Staatsoper Hamburg at the age of 15. She has been taking singing lessons since she was 17 . While studying for her Bachelor’s degree from 2012 to 2016 she gained her first stage experience in university productions singing the roles of Papagena (The Magic Flute), Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), Nora (Riders to the Sea) and Libelle (L’enfant et les sortilèges). Sophie has also built up a broad concert repertoire where her favorites include compositions by Mozart and Puccini and lieder by Debussy, Schubert and Brahms. She appears regularly with the “Hamburger Brahms-Trio” and with her duo “Ebenholz und Elfenbein” with the pianist Hyerim Park. Sophie has already enjoyed success in music competitions and in 2016 won the grant award at the Mahler Competition. She also won a national award at the “Jugend musiziert” competition at the age of 18.
