Wolfgang Schwaiger has been a member of the Cologne Opera ensemble since the 2016/17 season. He was already a member of the international opera studio there from 2014 to 2016. To date the baritone has appeared on stage in Cologne as Papageno (The Magic Flute), Schaunard (La bohème), Schneck (Der Vogelhändler) and Sherasmin (Oberon). In the 2017/2018 season he is scheduled to appear as Junius in The Rape of Lucrezia and Lescaut in Manon Lescaut. In summer 2016 he made his debut at the Bregenz Festival. He sang the title role in the opera studio’s production of Don Giovanni. Last summer he returned to Bregenz in the role of Moralès in Carmen. Wolfgang has been appearing on stage since he was 10 years old. He has performed in Turandot, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Gipsy in productions at the Tiroler Landestheater. While studying at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna he sang the role of Count Almaviva in The Marriage of Figaro and the title role in Don Giovanni at the Schlosstheater Schönbrunn. In 2018 the baritone will make his debut at the Hannover State Opera singing the role of Maximilian in Candide.
