Doğukan Özkan was born in Izmir, Turkey. He started taking singing lessons at the age of 19. From 2011 onwards the bass baritone studied at Dokus Eylül University, Izmir under Jeannette Thompson, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in 2016. While studying he gained stage experience in a number of roles at the Izmir State Opera, appearing as Count Ceprano (Rigoletto), Don Basilio (The Barber of Seville) and Dadyan Efendi (Hekimoğlu). In 2016 Doğukan reached the semi-finals of the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in South Africa. His favorite opera is Don Giovanni, in which he would like to sing the lead role at some point in the future.
