Biographie

Eddie Mofokeng appeared as Betto in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi at the iSING! International Young Artists Festival in Suzhou, China in summer 2017. The South African singer was born in Kroonstad Maokeng, 200 km south of Johannesburg. He has been taking singing lessons since he was ten years old. Eddie first studied at North West University in South Africa, where he gained his first stage experience in the roles of Guglielmo in Così fan tutte and Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas. After completing his Bachelor’s degree in 2016, the lyric baritone moved to Germany to study at the Cologne University of Music and Dance. In the same year he also joined the International Choral Academy Lübeck. NEUE STIMMEN is the first international singing competition that he has participated in.
