Biographie

This summer, Lucía Caihuela performed Motets of the Bach Family with the Netherlands Bach Society at the Utrecht Early Music Festival. She also performed with this ensemble at the Thuringia Bach Festival in 2016. The mezzo-soprano began taking singing lessons at the age of 19 and went on to study classical singing at the Conservatorio Profesional Arturo Soria in her native city of Madrid from 2009 to 2012. She made her debut in 2012 at the Teatro Real, where she played Proserpina in L’Orfeo. One year later, Lucía moved to the Netherlands. In 2017, she will complete her musical studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Lucía has gained on-stage experience at the Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam, having played Dido in Dido and Aeneas in 2014 and Gerda in The Falling Soldier in 2016. The young artist has a particular passion for baroque operas and compositions. Before she devoted herself fully to singing, Lucía was involved in sport fencing at a professional level.
