Biographie

Uğur Yılmaz will sing the roles of Masetto and The Commendatore in Don Giovanni at the Istanbul State Opera in October 2017. The Turkish bass baritone completed his music studies at the Istanbul State Conservatory. Uğur also made his debut in Istanbul in the leading role in The Marriage of Figaro in 2013. He gained further stage experience in the roles of Gaudenzio (Il Signor Bruschino), Falstaff (The Merry Wives of Windsor) and Bartolo (The Barber of Seville). In 2016 Uğur made his debut in Germany at the Theater Magdeburg, where he appeared as Wagner in Faust and as Cesare Angelotti in Tosca. In the same year he studied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg under Angelika Kirchschlager, Cherly Studer and Hartmut Holl. As well as being a soloist, Uğur has also performed as part of the choir in performances of Carmina Burana and Turandot. In 2017 he reached the finals of the 36th International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition.
