Biography

The Brazilian-Italian pianist and vocal coach Alfredo Abbati, who completed his artistic training in Paris at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique with top marks, has gained a wide range of experience in artistic coaching with opera singers during his career.

In the 2009/10 season, he was a vocal coach at the Opera Studio Center de Perfeccionament Plácido Domingo in Valencia, as well as at the Atelier Lyrique at the Opéra National de Paris in 2014/15 and at the Salzburg Festival since 2017.

In addition to his work with young singers, Alfredo Abbati has accompanied productions at many important opera houses worldwide, such as the Teatro Municipal de Sao Paulo, the Théatre La Monnaie, the Teatro del Liceu and the Opéra National de Paris. He has worked with Anna Netrebko, Bryn Terfel, Jonas Kaufmann, Aida Garifullina, Albert Dohmen, Véronique Gens and conductors Lorin Maazel, Georges Prȇtre and Zubin Mehta, among others. His next projects are the operas "Lear" by Aribert Reimann at the Opéra National de Paris as well as Mozart's da Ponte cycle and "Der Rosenkavalier" by Richard Strauss at the Théâtre La Monnaie in Brussels.
