Biography

The Japanese pianist has won awards at numerous international competitions, amongst others, the 2nd prize at the 2012 International Competition "Ricard Vines", and the 1st prize at the 2013 Schubert International Piano Duo Competition and the special award for the best accompanist at the 2015 Lortzing Competition in Leipzig. She graduated at the top of her class with a Master’s degree in piano performance at the Tokyo University of the Arts. While studying there, she also received several prizes including the Douseikai Prize, the L. Kreuzer Prize and the Acanthus Prize. 

As an accompanist’s assistant she was part of the Summer Opera in Bamberg in 2015 and became a scholarship recipient of the local Richard Wagner Society in 2016. Currently, she is completing her postgraduate degree (Konzertexamen) with Prof. Karl-Peter Kammerlander at the University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar. Yuka is also studying opera accompaniment with Prof. Hans-Christian Steinhöfel and is already working as an accompanist for the vocal performance classes.
